Theme-Based Vocabulary

This session will provide professionals, parents, and caregivers with information about using theme-based vocabulary to support single-word vocabulary development. Careful selection of vocabulary for children who are deaf or hard of hearing is of particular importance. An explanation of tiered vocabulary instruction will be discussed, and ideas and suggestions for theme-based vocabulary at different levels will be shared. Resources for theme-based vocabulary lists and pictures to accompany those words will be provided.
