At the Moog Center, we specialize in evaluating children who are deaf or hard of hearing, and making educational recommendations. As part of their educational program, children enrolled at the Moog Center receive yearly educational evaluations that assess their oral language and vocabulary skills, their speech skills, and their academic skills. This allows us to chart their progress and helps us determine whether or not they are ready to participate in the general education setting. The evaluation team shares results with the child’s teacher as well as with his/her parents to aid in the educational planning for the child.
Comprehensive Educational Evaluations
Each year, many families of preschool and school-aged children who are deaf or hard of hearing contact the Moog Center for a comprehensive educational evaluation of their child’s potential for success in learning spoken language. Our evaluation services are available to any family who wishes to confidentially assess their child’s skills and wants help in making appropriate decisions regarding their child’s educational placement. These services are provided by trained educators of the deaf and speech pathologists who have had years of experience servicing children who are deaf and hard-of-hearing and their families. Information provided by an educational evaluation can be helpful in preparing for a student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
The comprehensive evaluation may include:
- Language Testing
- Vocabulary Testing
- Speech Assessment
- Psychometric Evaluation
- Pre-Academic Evaluation
- Academic Evaluation
Visiting our school program provides an opportunity for parents to observe children similar to their own learning to listen and talk.
